We believe it is the aim, duty, and privilege of every believer and local church fellowship to glorify God by responding as active participants in the Great Commission call of Jesus Christ to go and make disciples of all nations. We believe the primary focus and priority of this call is centered on efforts that establish, strengthen, and reproduce disciples of Christ, through the power of His Holy Spirit.
God invites us - the body of believers known as the church - to be a part of His mission on earth: sharing the hope of Jesus. This is not an activity we do on our own, rather we are led and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We have been given the task of "ambassadors", carrying the message of reconciliation with God (2 Corinthians 5:20). Through all we say and do, we desire to point people to Jesus as the answer to all our questions, and our source of hope for this life and the next.
STATEMENTS OF CLARITY
As Fairfield, we have identified a series of statements that help focus how we will take steps to be actively On Mission With God. Many things are good things, but too many good things can cause us to be ineffective and chaotic. As we seek where God would have us move, we need to be prayerful and humble, focused and intentional. Below are a few clarifying statements we feel are paramount in guiding us in our mission:
PARTNERS ON MISSION
We believe we can be more effective in ministry by working and serving together. You can view our current ministry partners by visiting our Partners On Mission page.

Below are a few clarifying statements we feel are paramount in guiding us in our mission:
- We are on mission with God
- We are on mission locally and globally
- We want to partner with missionaries and ministries
- We want to be purposeful, intentional and specific
- We want to build relationships in on-going and cooperative ministry
- The glory is to God alone

FALL "ON MISSION" INITIATIVESThere are a number of opportunities to serve our community this fall, sharing the hope and love of Jesus. Head over to the Fall Initiatives webpage to learn more about everything from building Christmas gifts our of shoeboxes, to our Trunk or Treat, to raking leave for some neighbors. Talk with others and prayerfully consider how you, your family, your friend group, or your growth group can participate. You may be able to participate in all, a few or one! Whatever you decide to do, it is a beautiful way you can contribute to point people to Jesus.

A BIT OF RECENT HISTORY
We have been taking steps toward being more intentional about being ON MISSION WITH GOD.
Read below to get a little bit of history on what has led us to this point.

A MISSIONS TEAM IS ESTABLISHED (3/8/24)
Out of our prayer gatherings, we have called out a team of individuals to help provide wisdom and direction as we, as a church body, take steps forward on being intentionally on mission in our local community as well as internationally. Pray for this team as they have been tasked with identifying and guiding us in how Fairfield can be on mission in the Fairfield neighborhood, Eugene, Oregon and internationally. Pray as they help to clarify a vision for being on mission with God.
The current team consists of:
Christine Atkinson, Tony, Baxter, Tom Burns, Becky Denham, Aliyah Hilal, Alissa Prieb, Ryan Prieb

Fairfield On Mission Update (12/8/23)
// Pastor Ryan //
I had shared previously that the months of 2023 were to be dedicated to prayer: our desire is to position ourselves in a posture of prayer and humility as we seek His leading. What’s the next step then? At the beginning of 2024 we will form a MISSIONS TEAM of 4-6 individuals to be a nucleus that guides us in Fairfield’s missions emphasis. They will be tasked with clarifying our next action steps, providing direction and a unified vision for being on mission with God.
During VISION 2024 (Saturday, January 27) we will hold a meeting to begin taking steps going forward with a Missions Team. Might being a part of this team be something God is laying on your heart? If so, please connect with me (Pastor Ryan) as soon as possible. I would like to form the team prior to Vision 2024.
I fully realize this can be a busy and chaotic time of year. Even so, may we keep what God is leading us into in front of us with “open hands”. May we continue to be prayerful and humble, seeking after the Lord’s leading.

WHAT NEXT?
At the beginning of 2024 we will form a Missions Team of 4-6 individuals to be a nucleus that guides us in Fairfield’s missions emphasis. They will be tasked with clarifying our next action steps, providing direction and a unified vision for being on mission with God. With this in mind, I encourage you to continue to pray for the things we have previously listed, but now specifically for the development of this team and who God would be drawing to be a part of it. If you feel God laying this on your heart, please don’t hesitate to connect with Pastor Ryan.
Paul tells us to pray continually, never ceasing to seek God’s wisdom and direction. May we be faithful prayer warriors and follow where He leads us!

Right now we are seeking God’s heart, to follow His direction in an attitude of humility and a posture of prayer. Would you commit to praying with us? On the pdf outline there is a list of things to be praying for as we seek direction from the Holy Spirit. There is also some “homework” listed on the attached outline.
Fairfield On Mission with God (Following Service on 9/17/23)
Moving Forward…
I find myself praying, “God, not my will, but Yours.” I don’t want to push my own agenda, but seek after God’s direction, for His Kingdom purposes and His glory. That’s really the beginning step: pausing to listen to His voice and trust His leading. Can we all be praying in this same spirit? As we individually and collectively pray, may God bring unity among us, a cooperative spirit, and a clarity of purpose and direction.
Continue to Pray...
For the rest of 2023 (just over 3 months, really) let us continue to pray: Pray individually (in your own times of prayer) and collectively (planned corporate times of prayer). Understand, coming together to pray is no small thing! In fact it is the vital spiritual work that positions ourselves in an attitude of humility and a posture that says, “wherever you lead, we will follow.”
Coming Together...
During this time we will gather corporately – all who are able and available – once a month, simply to pray and lay the spiritual groundwork for how God would lead us going forward. We will gather for prayer on the following dates:
October 22
November 12
December 10
I realize this may not work for some. Please let me know if that’s the case for you. We may provide some prayer group opportunities on Sunday mornings if this impacts enough people.
